The Watson Firm Welcomes David Delmar

David Delmar PhotoThe Watson Firm is pleased to announce the addition of attorney David Delmar

David has extensive experience with the full spectrum of real estate services including acquisition, sale, leasing, land use, and development. Before joining The Watson Firm, David was a real estate attorney in the Dallas office of Polsinelli and a real estate and land use attorney in the Portland, Oregon, office of Perkins Coie.

“David is going to be an excellent addition to the Watson Firm team,” said founder Monty Watson. “He has several years of experience handling major real estate transactions, and he brings to the table the kind of energy and smarts we thrive on.”

Licensed to practice law in Texas and Oregon, David received his law degree in 2014 from Harvard Law School, where he received the Dean’s Scholar Prize for his proficiency with real estate and property law. He earned his bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Oregon in 2010.

An Oregon native, David moved in 2019 to Texas, where he enjoys the warmer weather and — as an avid weather photographer and videographer — the Lone Star State’s propensity for terrifying storms. He enjoys reading, writing short stories, and exploring the outdoors, particularly the Broken Bow area of Oklahoma, with his wife and son.

About The Watson Firm

The Watson Firm provides legal services for master-planned, mixed-use and resort communities. Our industry experience, both on the business and the legal side, is what makes us uniquely capable of guiding clients through the myriad of legal issues involved with any new or ongoing development.

Universal Studios Theme Park

The Watson Firm was honored to represent the sellers in what was arguably the biggest real estate news in North Texas in recent memory: the sale of land for an almost 100-acre Universal Studios theme park and hotel in the $10 billion Fields development in Frisco.

The new family-friendly project at the northeast corner of the tollway and Panther Creek Parkway will also include retail stores and restaurants. Universal Studios did a global search for sites before settling on Frisco, the city’s mayor told The Dallas Morning News.

The park will include several Universal-themed interactive experiences as well as a 300-room hotel.

The Universal Studios deal is just the latest that name partner Monty Watson has handled for Fields, which stretches between Preston Road and U.S. Highway 380 and will eventually include as many as 14,000 homes and apartments, plus commercial space.

Watson also represented Fields in other high-profile deals, including the sale of two large parcels to homebuilder John Landon of Landon Homes for the construction of more than 1,200 homes. We also represented Fields in its deal with Taylor Morrison Homes to build almost 500 single-family homes and on an industrial venture.

Within the next decade, the Fields development — a collaboration of The Karahan Cos. and Hunt Realty— will likely transform North Texas, and The Watson Firm looks forward to continuing to serve these dynamic, visionary organizations.
