The Watson Firm is pleased to announce the addition of new associate, John M. Moore.

October 11, 2019

John M. Moore is a 2019 graduate of the SMU Dedman School of Law and previously served in the U.S. Marine Corps. During his tour in Afghanistan, John was involved in numerous combat outpost construction and fortification missions and fortification missions.

Although his current construction and development legal work is decidedly different from his work in Afghanistan, John’s personal experience gives him a unique understanding of the skills, effort, and teamwork involved in bringing a development project to life.

“We’re extremely excited that John has decided to join our firm,” said The Watson Firm founder Monty Watson. “John’s experience in the military involved working as an integral part of a team, which is similar to how we approach things here with our clients. Not only that, but solving problems under constraints is what we do as lawyers, and he’s had four meaningful years of that training.”

A native Texan, John is happy to have returned home to complete both his bachelor’s degree and his J.D. at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. During law school, John worked for both an international design-build contractor and an oil and gas law firm, where he gained experience with construction contracts, land titles, and mineral rights. His professional interests lie in raw land, construction, and various real estate assets. Away from work, John enjoys spending time outside with his dog, playing soccer, reading, and DIY projects that – of course – require power tools.
