Sharon Koplan

Sharon Koplan is a real estate attorney with a broad range of experience in all aspects of the acquisition, financing, development, operation, and disposition of real estate, and has both law firm and in-house counsel experience. Ms. Koplan most recently has focused on representing commercial developers in the development of master planned communities. Having served as Regional General Counsel for Newland Real Estate Group for ten years, Ms. Koplan has considerable experience in representing the developer in homebuilder contracts for the sale of completed lots to residential builders, as well as property management agreements, consulting, construction, and service provider contracts, and restrictive covenant agreements. During her tenure at Newland, Ms. Koplan performed work for several communities in the eastern region, including Briar Chapel and RiverLights in North Carolina; Embrey Mill in Stafford County, Virginia; Windermere and  Sterling near Atlanta, Georgia; and FishHawk Ranch in Tampa, Florida.

Prior to joining Newland, Ms. Koplan was as a staff attorney at the Dallas office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, LLP, and an associate attorney at Johnson and Gibbs in Dallas, Texas, and worked on a variety of transactions for the acquisition, financing and sale of commercial properties, including shopping centers, office buildings and industrial office/warehouse projects.   

Ms. Koplan received her B.A. degree, cum laude, from Vanderbilt University, and her Juris Doctor from the Dedman School of Law, Southern Methodist University. She is a member of the Real Estate, Probate and Trust Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, and the Real Estate and Corporate Sections of the Dallas Bar Association. She enjoys time with family, travel, and being outdoors.
